Scott Murray Confirmed as U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire

  The U.S. Senate has confirmed Scott W. Murray as the next U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire.

Murray is currently a four-term Merrimack County Attorney.

He succeeds Emily Gray Rice, who resigned in March of 2017.

Gov. Chris Sununu recommended Murray almost a year ago for the federal post, which is a four-term year. "Scott Murray will serve this state and our nation with distinction as United States Attorney," Sununu said.

 

Murray was confirmed Thursday by voice vote. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan supported the nomination.

The senators each said Murray would play a critical role as the Granite State works to combat the opioid epidemic.

Murray is a former long-time prosecutor in Concord He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce Law Center, now known as UNH School of Law.
