UNH Picks Up Production of "What is New Hampshire" Public Policy Publication

UNH announced today it will take over publication of a widely referenced research publication.

"What is New Hampshire?" was previously produced by the now defunct Center for Public Policy Studies.

It's a go-to for government agencies, non-profits and other groups who think about the demographics of the state, the economy, education and other issues.

Beth Mattingly is a research program director at UNH's Carsey School and will oversee the publication.

"One of the things I think is exciting is being able to look at not just New Hampshire in the aggregate, but with a publication like this to really drill down to understand what's happening within the state."

Past editions have outlined housing constraints and looked at how an aging population is affecting the state's health care system.

"Some of the big things happening are the migration of young people and families,” Mattingly says. “You know, we know it's a major workforce issue right now to try to keep people in New Hampshire."

UNH plans to launch an online interactive platform for future issues of the publication.
